Current fishing report for Alaska rivers May 2024
- Southeast Alaska:
- Yakutat: Fishing conditions are favorable, with good opportunities for salmon and halibut. Check local regulations for specific details.
- Haines/Skagway: Salmon fishing is picking up, especially for Chinook (King) salmon. Coho (Silver) salmon are also present.
- Juneau: Coho salmon are starting to show up in local waters. Try fishing near creek mouths and rocky shorelines.
- Sitka: Coho salmon fishing is productive. Look for them near kelp beds and rocky areas.
- Petersburg / Wrangell: Good fishing for halibut and rockfish. Salmon are also available.
- Ketchikan: Salmon fishing is steady, with both Chinook and Coho salmon being caught.
